Samantha Lew
Senior Associate
WorkCover
I'm Sammy Lew.
In mid 2006 I was appointed Senior Associate which I consider to be my second greatest achievement following the title I was awarded on a recent Waikiki retreat.
At the office, I spend my time defending Workcover claims. A lot of my claims involve a limitation of action provision and I'm proud of my several Court of Appeal cases which have interpreted the meaning of 'knowledge of incapacity' in the Accident Compensation Act. A recent decision in which I was involved was Nicolaou v Papercorp which I must say was a near qualifier in my achievement awards.
My practice also comprises defending plaintiff's claims for damages. I particularly enjoy working towards achieving timely outcomes to minimise the inherent stress for parties involved in the litigation process.
One of the best things about my job is that I practice law along side innovative and young lawyers whom I consider to be good friends.
Outside of my little office, my preferred sport is shopping with the occasional lap of the Tan thrown in (the latter is simply training for the former, especially at sale time).
In early 2007, my first greatest achievement became my marriage to Davo. You might wonder how the skills I've learned at Wisewoulds are applicable to married life; clearly marriage requires a bit of hard work but always ensuring you have fun whilst you're doing it.
