I grew up on a farm in Northwood, North Dakota, USA. You can't see the Black Hills from there, but rather endless fields of wheat, barley, sugar beets, beans, and flax. North Dakota is a down-to-earth place where you can purchase quite innovative products developed from the crops grown there. Recently I sampled a chocolate-covered soy nut, which was much better than soy milk or tofu.
After high school, I attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota (the Jesse James gang was defeated there in the late 1800's). In 1992, I graduated with honours with a Bachelor of Arts, double-majoring in English and Speech/Theatre.
After all that studying, I escaped to England for a working holiday. I met an Aussie there, who convinced me to be his mate and go with him to Australia. (Over 10 years later, we're still married, and we're still here.)
I completed a Bachelor of Laws with Honours at Monash University in 2001. I was admitted to practice in August 2003 and am a member of the commercial litigation team at Wisewoulds.
My experience to date has given me broad exposure to commercial law matters. I have a basic understanding of clients' business requirements, which I adapt to the particular needs of clients in litigious matters. My work has involved cases in the Magistrates' Court, County Court, Supreme Court, Federal Magistrates' Court, and Federal Court.
I have three children, whose schooling, extracurricular activities, and social lives tend to dominate the time I spend outside the office. However, I do play basketball and go running each week for fitness and stress release. As a creative outlet, I occasionally play the piano, and I am trying to develop my garden.
On top of that, I have very cool friends, eat at posh restaurants, keep abreast of things that are hip and edgy, and always have fun at parties (well, I think so anyway).
