I am a boy from the bush, commencing my legal practice in 1978 at Slater and Gordon and then Warren Graham and Murphy in the Latrobe Valley. My practice now involves a high percentage of defendant insurance work, but perhaps a legacy of those early days of practice is that I am a feisty, exuberant and intense practitioner and still undertake a range of commercial and civil litigation for people from all walks of life. Perhaps it’s a legacy of those early days; although some people might say that I’m a feisty, exuberant and intense bloke.
I have two teenage children, so am currently enrolled in a rapid adult education course. My marks for different subjects are variable, but I am certainly trying hard.
Outside work I like watching football, Hawthorn if they are on song, but don’t mind any high quality game. I have been sighted at the Casino and the odd racetrack, but rest assured that I am only there to observe.
After not having the chance in earlier years I am relishing opportunities to travel and see the world. I hope to take both of those teenage children away as a mutual “graduation” present.
I am a true litigation lawyer. I like to fight and I fight hard. I think that legitimate interests need and deserve protection and that is what I have always tried to provide. I have been accredited by The Law Institute of Victoria as a commercial litigation specialist since 1993.
I am a bit of a prodigal son where Wisewoulds is concerned (although I am still waiting for the fatted calf bit to happen). In 2000, dissatisfied with the way the firm was heading, I left to practice elsewhere.
I came back in 2002, because I thought things had improved a lot, and because while you can take the boy out of Wisewoulds, you can’t take the Wisewoulds out of the boy.
