Kaja Strzalka
Trainee Solicitor
I finished my Arts/Law degree at Monash University. I had many amazing opportunities while I was at University and I made sure to take many of them up. In 2008, I traveled to Hong Kong and Vienna to participate in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. I studied in Poland while completing my Diploma in Languages. I also spent a semester walking through piazzas and eating gelati daily in Italy while undertaking some of my law subjects. However, after 7 years in my undergraduate degree it was finally time to leave the student life behind and experience the real world. I couldn’t have been happier when I was offered a traineeship at Wisewould Mahony. I had heard a lot of good things about the firm and was excited to be beginning my professional career here. In our first week at the firm, all the trainees quickly felt very welcome and comfortable around the office. At Wisewould Mahony you gain practical experience immediately. We made court appearances in our first week and were also given a range of interesting and challenging work to do. During our traineeship year, we will rotate within the different practice groups at the firm and each rotation offers us a great opportunity to gain knowledge and skill in a variety of legal fields. At Wisewould Mahony, every office door is open and I am able to approach any practitioner to ask for advice, assistance and guidance. Everyone is sure to say hi here and stop to ask how I’m going. It really does feel like a family at Wisewould Mahony and I’m looking forward to the rest of my time with the firm.

Most people around the workplace were surprised to hear that I’m active as a Polish scout leader. I love it. It’s great to be able to work with kids and I enjoy the outdoor aspect as well. I’ve been lucky enough to have hiked through various terrains like Fraser Island, Wilsons Promontory and the Great North Walk and I’ve had the chance to do it with some amazing people. My other loves are op shop shopping, cooking great food and practising my skills as a stand-up comedian.
