Insolvency Law & Litigation
In 2004 I joined Wisewoulds commercial litigation and insolvency department and I soon discovered that I had chosen a dynamic and friendly place to work. With many talented lawyers who have a wealth of knowledge, I have learned a great deal from the people who I have worked with over the last few years. My legal career has been interesting, challenging and exciting and I endeavour to provide commercial and practical advice for my clients so that they can achieve an appropriate resolution to their dispute. Commercial disputes can be difficult for clients and I hope that my skills and knowledge make it easier for them whilst being involved in the litigation process.
I have experience in representing both corporate and individual clients in the insolvency and general commercial litigation areas. I also appear regularly for clients in all jurisdictions and my practice has involved cases including claims for breach of contract, misleading and deceptive conduct, unfair preferences, uncommercial transactions, winding up applications, retention of title claims, bankruptcy proceedings, claims for void transfers of property, retail lease disputes and the provision of advice in relation to those areas. I have now found myself in the Family Court representing Trustees in Bankruptcy in property settlement proceedings (which is quite different from my commercial based experience - it's a whole different ball game!!)
I hold the following professional positions and memberships:
- Committee member of the Insolvency Restructuring Committee of the Law Council of Australia
- Full member of the Insolvency Practitioners' Association of Australia
- Committee Member of the Litigation Lawyers' Executive of the Law Institute of Victoria
- Committee Member of the Courts Practice Committee of the Law Institute of Victoria
- Member of the Federal Court Users' Group Committee
- Participant in the CPA Discussion Group and the IPAA CBD Network
Two of my achievements to date include the New Lawyers' Award from the Law Institute of Victoria and representing Australia in a Young Lawyers' Writing Competition at the International Bar Conference in Prague.

Outside the office, I enjoy going for (short) bike rides - for fun though, not necessarily for fitness. I usually only venture from the city to a beachside location for brunch and back again. Whilst it may defeat the purpose a bit by eating bacon and eggs for brunch, on a beautiful day, it's so refreshing to go for a ride.
I have also taken up golf ,although am still very much a beginner, so I am trying to play more often so I can improve my game but having played at the Wisewould Mahony Golf Day at the National, I'm up for anything now.
I also love to travel and my favourite destination which I have visited recently is the Caribbean where the beaches are amazing - powder white sand, crystal blue waters and fabulous snorkelling. After experiencing many fabulous locations over the world, my favourite city is still Paris (although Prague comes a close second!!). One of the things I always buy on my trips is jewellery although not just one piece...a girl can never have enough jewellery!! I also take my camera everywhere and I have been told that if I wasn't a lawyer, I could easily be a photographer!!. Needless to say, my office proudly displays photos of some of the beautiful destinations I have visited over the years.
